Government Laptop Linux Os removal without affecting the Windows OS.

Hi Guys,

In TamilNadu, Government is providing free laptops to student and it has two Operating systems. They are

  1. 1.Windows 7
  2. 2.Linux

But Most of them don`t like to use Linux and it holds nearly 97GB of total disk size. Some naive users tried to remove that Linux OS by simply deleting the volume holding the Linux File system and it will get deleted and the 97GB will be shown at your computer. But the problem is when you try to restart your laptop it will not start and show “Bootmanager Missing” message. It is because the MBR of the boot manager will get damaged since both are using the same Boot Manager and we need to fix it.What the naive users will do, they will change the whole OS and install new Windows or Something. But it is not necessary here I have posted the most safest way to remove the Linux Os without affecting the original windows os.

Requirements:

  • Download the EASY BCD from the below link

             http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/EasyBCD.shtml

STEPS TO REMOVE THE LINUX OS:

  1. In the Disk Management, find the volume and delete the volume.(After deleted don`t allow the lap to restart)
  2. Using the unallocated free volume create the new volume.
  3. Now you can see the disk in my computer.
  4. Now install the downloaded EASY BCD from the above link.
  5. It will show screen like below.

6.In the screen by clicking the BCD Deployment tab you can see the screen as above and follow the steps as given in the following images.

7.After Showing the success message you can restart the laptop and it will work fine.

8.The above whole things is to write the damaged MBR of the Bootmanager.

                                                                                      Thanks and Regards,
